This famous Carthusian monastery was founded by Pope Innocenzo III in 1204, but a first Benedectine Abbey was founded in the site in 996 by St. Dominic Abbot.
The Abbey Church was consacrated in 1211; its name Trisulti could derive from latin tres saltibus meaning At the three jumps!
The complex includes a 18th century pharmacy on two levels; it is decorated by trompe d'oeil frescoes and contemporary furniture.
The garden facing the pharmacy was once a botanic garden.
